The Project Management Institute (PMI) sponsors a project management certification program. PMI administers a rigorous experience and examination-based professional certification of the highest caliber – the Project Management Professional (PMP®). I learned about this certification through the program management group at Intel. Getting certified is not as easy as taking an exam. In order to apply for the test it required at least 3 years and 4500 hours of project management experience. Additionally it required 35 hours of project management specific training. Once my application was accepted I spent several months pouring over project management textbooks. I finally took the test and, though it was very difficult, in August of 2004 I became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Got Projects?
