How to Sheer a Sheep

Start high on the brisket and remove all discoloured fribs - ensuring easy entry for the neck blows
Turn sheep into long blow position while shearing blow
Blow 6 may have to be repeated to ensure clean crutch. Cover teats on this blow
Keep sheep's head down and step over while shearing blow 28
Blows 8 and 9 may be combined
On large sheep two full blows over backbone
Blow 14 must be a full comb under the backbone
Shearers knees to control the sheeps head
Place blows carefully
Sheep's head turned and placed high in legs
Blow 17 Finishes the square under the jaw
Blow 36 cleans fribs under legs

Blow 20 may continue around ears to clear left cheek

Legs must straighten for blow 38
Roll wrist and shear deep on back of neck
Blow 39 clears top of leg if necessary. Blow 40 rolls under hamstring
